Needing My Hero…

SickThis has been my paraphernalia for the past week.  I’ve been trying my best to fight off being sick.  I thought I was winning, but took a turn for the worse a couple of days ago.  I think my boys are enjoying the fact that I don’t have a voice.  No yelling this week. 😉

For the most part, we’ve been blessed with health since my husband has been gone.  It’s hard being the military spouse left behind… even harder when you’re sick.  You can’t stop… you can’t rest.  There’s always something that needs to be done.

Most people think that I can do it all… most of the time I do.  I get called on to do tasks that most can’t or won’t do.  I was called on a lot this week.  I did all I could for each circumstance, managed to work a busy week, managed to get the grass mowed, managed to get new tires and brakes,  managed to take my son to every game and practice… I managed.

While outwardly I manage, inwardly I was praying for my hero… my knight in shining armor to come rescue me.  I have a great man.  Sometimes, I get in situations where I feel overwhelmed… he always rescues me.  My forever servant husband does whatever he can do help.  I miss that among other things.

I know that I have great friends and family that will help in any way they can.  I had some call today and offer.  But, it’s not the same as having those big strong arms around me, getting lost in his scent, and knowing that he will do whatever he can to make everything ok.

For you husbands that read this… you know that your wives do so much.  Sometimes she gets overwhelmed and she may not tell you.  Learn to recognize those times.  And in those moments… be her hero.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
